SOHRAB HURA, LIFE IS ELSEWHERE, 2015
Life is elsewhere is framed by Indian photographer Sohrab Hura’s relationship with his mother, who was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. This photographic work is the first part of his personal project Sweet Life (2005-2014). This small-format self-published book is packed with black and white photography of night scenes, portraits of friends, and dogs. Many dogs. Hura’s portraits of his mother are mainly located at the beginning and at the end of this book. In between Hura is in search of something, aided by his camera, which helps him put together the parts of life’s puzzle. It seems as if the night is his friend and companion. The book is full of grainy images printed on matt paper. The photographers texts and notes add to the very personal and warm-hearted approach of this book.
