Kishin Shinoyama, Paris, Shinchosha, 1977, Slipcase with belly-band (Obi), book cover front
Mostly known for his nude, glamour and celebrity photography Kishin Shinoyama, 篠山紀信, shows a Paris, パリ, in faded almost ektacromic colors printed on stiff paper with glossy finish.
The leather effect cardboard slipcase and book with gold embossed title was probably considered a cool thing to do to a book in the 70s. It took me some time to get used to the blue belly-band (Obi) and even now I still have my doubts. Kishin’s Paris is quiet, a very early morning mood spreads through the whole book. People rarely appear and if they do you see them from a distance (apart a few exceptions).
