Eva Fuková, Marie Šechtlová & Miloň Novotný, New York, 1966

Dust jacket back and front

Of all the photobooks on New York, this small-format volume is one of the most beautiful ever made. Photographers Eva Fuková, Marie Šechtlová, Miloň Novotnýjoin and designer Jaroslav Fišer join forces, presenting their individual impressions of New York. The blue front papers are photographically illustrated, setting the scene. The majority of the images in the book are black and white, divided by the occasional section of colour photographs and the effective use of red printed paper. The overall graphic design of this book is playful: the monochromatic photo-illustrated front and end papers, the use of red printed paper, the fold-outs, double exposures, graphic illustrations and montages, and of course the wonderfully composed double pages. Despite a large print run of 10.000 copies, this book now rarely appears in good and/or complete condition.
